Yesterday was our last Sunday as LA residents, where does the time go?! I can’t even believe I had the opportunity to call California home for a year and a half and now I’m over here packing up all my belongings to call New York home next! It’s funny how quick we are to make these decisions to move around but it really does hit home when it comes down to the wire. I’ve been feeling all these emotions these past few weeks as the move to NY has become more and more clear.
Ajeet and I have been taking advantage of as many beautiful LA sunsets as possible and the other day we actually hiked up Culver City Stairs (The Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook California State Park) which has been an important place for us to visit ever since moving here. If you plan to do this– be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water because the hike up to the up is quite treacherous if you’re going in full speed! I got in my new Reebok Club C 85‘s in the mail not too long ago and thought this would be the perfect time to take them for a ride! I wanted to see how well these sneakers would hold up against a hike up the Culver City Stairs and let me just tell you, they’ve exceeded my expectations 100%!
There’s seriously nothing like a fresh pair of white sneakers but what I love the most about these is how comfortable they are. They have an EVA midsole so it makes your feet feel like they’re on perfect pillows all day! I didn’t even need to break into them so that’s a huge plus too. The outside of the sneakers held up really well on the hike– no scratches or scuff marks so I’d say I did a pretty good job up the hike or the sneakers are crazy durable….maybe a mix of both?! I ordered my usual closed-toed shoe size (8) and they fit great!
After making it to the top of the stairs, Ajeet and I sat on the bench and just watched the sunset. It was one of those no phone moments because we just needed to take it all in. We came to LA as two small fish stepping into the biggest pond in the world and trust me, it was not easy in the beginning! I remember crying for weeks after moving because I just missed my family back in Dallas. I felt alone and more than anything, I felt scared. I was taking a risk on myself and I was confident but at the same time I kept asking myself a bunch of “what ifs” that made me second guess my decision to move. Los Angeles definitely tested my strength early on but thankfully I had my partner in crime and best friend by my side to get through some of our darkest days. We spent months navigating through the dark but each day that went by gave more clarity on why I chose to live here. Ajeet and I were chatting about how this city has really helped us grow both individually and in our career. It’s clear to me now that all the late nights working, frequent meetings networking with other creatives, and nonstop grinding was all for this moment right here. This moment, looking out at the city of Los Angeles, and actually taking in just how much this city has given us. We overcame the hardest days here so that we can create lives for ourselves that we truly are passionate about and love. It all started with the leap of faith I took to move to LA & go full-time with my blog and it continued with Ajeet’s leap of faith to quit his corporate job to join Next With Nita. After you take that jump, it’s so important to hit the ground running and that’s what we did here in Los Angeles. We worked out butts off to now get to the point where my dream of living in New York City can actually be a reality. I’ve dreamt of living in New York since I was a little girl but never once imagined for a split second it actually happening!!
As I sit here and reflect on our time back in LA and revisit our purpose here, I just need to take a moment to thank each and every one of you. Your endless support and love throughout this journey has meant the world to us and we wouldn’t be able to do what we’re doing without you. I hope you all stay along the journey as we take ourselves to new heights in NYC and see how high we can fly above the concrete jungle.
Thank you Reebok for sponsoring by far the most important post I’ve ever written! I have the Reebok Club C 85 to thank for giving me the strength to make it up to the top of the Culver City Stairs. Can’t wait to take them around in New York City!
I hope y’all enjoyed this post– chat soon! Xo
