Bridging the Gap

Hi loves! I’m so excited to share the launch of the Bridging the Gap Campaign today! This movement is unprecedented and it’s here to blur boundaries and put an end to stereotypes! The campaign has influencers anywhere from age 20-88 that are different sizes, skin tones, and styles! This campaign is designed to be as inclusive as can be and I’m so honored to be part of it! 🙂 Today’s post is dedicated to my campaign partner– April from The Blue Hydrangeas! Without further ado, here’s a little Q&A for April! 😀

[full_width]What inspired you to start a blog?

“I’ve actually been blogging for 10 years but it’s only been in the last 18 months or so that I’ve been doing fashion and lifestyle blogging. Before that I ran a successful maternity and newborn photography business called Works of Love Photography. The inspiration behind that blog was my children, who are near and dear to my heart. Fast forward 10 years and I had four children and twice moved across the country. I was starting a new job as a physician and it was just too much to maintain my photography business. So I closed down the business and concentrated on my family and my work. During that time frame I paid little attention to my own sense of style, and after closing down my photography business I realized my creative spark was missing. I had been working to lose all my baby weight and realized I needed a new wardrobe. For the first time, I came across fashion blogs and I was fascinated! I knew I had the photography skills and because I was in the midst of revamping my own wardrobe I decided to document it through my own fashion and lifestyle blog, The Blue Hydrangeas.”

Can You Describe Your Sense of Style?

“I don’t really consider myself fashion forward, but my style is definitely classic and timeless. This was true when I was a newborn photographer and it’s true as a fashion blogger. When looking at the latest trends my style is always influenced by what I know will be in style for years to come. The timeless quality of my work can also be seen in the pictures I take. I want my pictures to have a quality about them that will never go out of style.”

“My style is genuine. I’ve never been one to be a part of cliques and I love meeting other bloggers of all ages and styles! The last thing I would ever want is for someone to feel excluded in a group.”

Why did you want to be a part of the Bridging the Gap Campaign?

“When I first heard about this campaign, I knew I wanted to participate! I am not a millennial, but rather a member of generation X. I am married, I have four young children and I’m in my 40s. I have learned so much and done so much since I was in my 20s. The most important thing for a younger person to know is that they need to be confident in who they are. Be true to their voice and rest assure in knowing that everything really does happen for a reason. It can be so hard when you’re in your 20s to realize that and it’s only through the wisdom of experience do you realize your own self-worth. However, I can still learn so much from a millennial, and as a midlifer I love to teach and help people to be the best version of themselves!”

Hope you guys loved the post as much as I do! Chat soon, babes! 💙

Nita, how cool to have been paired with such a talented woman like April! Her words on how “only through wisdom of experience do you realize your own self-worth” are so true! I am so grateful to have both of your lovely selves in this campaign!
