NYFW 2017: Our Stay at Yotel New York

Finding a solid place to stay near your events/shows is honestly KEY for New York Fashion Week. I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with Yotel New York where I stayed for my entire trip during #NYFW. It was in such a perfect location– 8 minutes from Skylight Clarkson (a bit longer with traffic) and it wasn’t that bad of a drive going from event to meetings. There’s even a Dry Bar literally within walking distance from it! If you’re planning on doing NYFW next year, I heavily suggest you take a look at your schedule and pick a hotel that is in a central location. You’re going to be taking a cab basically everywhere– almost 7-8x a day if not more. I can tell you for sure that Yotel New York is in the perfect location for NYFW so let’s go ahead and dive into the details!

[full_width]THE LOCATION

As I already mentioned, Yotel New York is a great place to stay if you’re traveling for NYFW. However, it’s also in the perfect location if you’re just in New York for the weekend and want to explore the city. It’s only about a 5-6 minute walk from the subway and just two blocks from Times Square!! I literally saw the reflection of Times Square outside the window in my room– it was awesome!

THE LOBBY

My word. I wasn’t even sure if I was in the correct location when I walked into Yotel. Everything around me was so futuristic– the hotel even had something called YOBOT which is a friendly luggage-storing ROBOT! Yup. I couldn’t believe my eyes!! So basically, if you need to leave your luggage at the hotel before you check-in or something, you can use the YOBOT to help you store your bags for you! Crazy innovative, right?! I quickly noticed the purple hues and backlights on the elevators when I walked in. I don’t know what it is but that purple backlight just really had a warm effect on me and made me feel relaxed when I was crazy stressed. The last thing I want to note about the lobby is the self-serving kiosks. You can literally check-in by yourself (kind of like at an airport!) and get your room keys from there. Oh and, there’s a bike hanging from the ceiling in case you didn’t see from the photos!

THE CABINS

Yotel New York calls their rooms “cabins” which is pretty cool. Since I booked my trip pretty late in the game (about 3 weeks before), there weren’t a ton of options available since mostly every cabin was sold out! We ended up staying in the premium queen cabin with a view. I had about 4 pieces of luggage with me so I was a bit crammed (I mean, it’s my fault I overpacked for NYFW hah!). However, if you’re a light packer then this room works great for two people. However, next time if I’m traveling for NYFW I’m definitely going to book earlier and get the king cabin for some extra space to plan out my outfits for the week.

The view from our room was incredible you guys! We got to see bits of the Empire State and Chrysler Building along with the Hudson River! It was amazing to wake up to that view every morning. Even if I was running late in the morning, I took a few minutes just to stare out into the city and really reflect on how far I’ve come since I started blogging full-time. We were on the 26th floor and the highest floor goes to 27 so we were definitely up there and had insanely great views of the city.

Want to know the coolest part of the cabin? The bed. It’s adjustable, y’all! There’s a button on the side that literally brings up the bed if you’re sitting up to watch TV so you have back support and when you’re ready to sleep, you can bring the bed back down. Like, what?! I need to figure out how to get that for my room because Yotel really outdid themselves with that bed and the Smart capabilities it had. Plus, the mattress was VERY comfortable (and I don’t say that a lot) to the point where I questioned getting out of bed every single morning. Also, remember how I said that Yotel has lots of purple accents throughout the hotel? Our room TV even had a backlight behind it where you could change the color just depending on your mood! I know this because my husband had WAY too much playing with the Hue lights in our room, hah. It’s the little things that really make our stay in a hotel memorable.

THE BATHROOM

I’m weird about hotel bathrooms and it’s usually the first thing I check when I walk in. I like to make sure everything is squeaky clean and just check out the amenities. I quickly noticed that Yotel had a monsoon shower and I WAS OBSESSED. I’m definitely getting one of those installed in my own home– something about monsoon showers that make your overall bathing experience 10x better. Our room had all the essentials we needed– hairdryer, iron, ironing board, and shampoo/conditioner/body wash. I knew that before booking so I didn’t even bother bringing my hairdryer with me!

Quick note: the bathroom does not have lotion so if you like to moisturize after you shower like me, I suggest bringing your own or there’s a CVS right across the street from the hotel where you can pick up some lotion and some late night snacks, hehe! You already know we did all of that if you were watching my Instagram Stories throughout the week!

THE FOUR

You’re probably thinking what in the world is four?! Well, all the fun happens on four. Basically, the 4th floor has everything you need– a lounge area, the bar, the terrace, and food! Every single night after I came back from a show or an event, I went straight to four to spend some quality time with myself, my husband and/or a few of my girlfriends that were also staying at the same hotel. We would literally just sit out on the terrace and watch the busy streets of New York go by and stare at the incredible views that the terrace offered us. And yes, I truly mean incredible skyline views. At night, my girlfriends and I had some late night pizza and delicious, unique drinks!

One of the nights we were there even had a rooftop movie viewing on the terrace with seats and a projector. So bummed I had to miss out to attend a presentation but you could tell that it would have been an amazing thing to do– just watch a movie, lounging on the largest terrace in NYC with city views. Amazing, right?

Oh and there’s also a fitness room on Four if you’re wanting to work out!

That’s kind of the 411 on our stay at Yotel New York. Everyone at the hotel made sure we were accommodated for and the customer service was on point. There’s free WiFi for those that are on business trips or would like to surf the web during your stay. I can’t say enough great things about Yotel New York and I hope to stay there again in the future. Definitely a luxurious, futuristic experience and I already miss every bit of it!! Chat soon, loves!
