NYFW 2017: Day 1 & 2

Reality is hitting me real hard you guys!! I have loads of work that I need to get done yet my mind is still in New York right now. I absolutely LOVE the city and didn’t want to leave at all! We definitely will go back and visit again soon!

After much thinking of how I want to write my NYFW posts, I’ve decided to break it down as follows:

  • Day 1 & 2 recap which you’ll find here!
  • Where I stayed
  • Day 3 & 4 recap
  • What not to do + what to do in preparation for NYFW // tips & tricks

Let’s do this!

We landed in NYC late Wednesday night when we went to dinner at Lombardi’s (cash only btw) and then we went to bed around 11pm. I did spend some time taking out my outfits and steaming them in preparation for the next few days! I got this really awesome collapsible garment rack that came in handy during my trip– it was super easy to see my outfits and keep them clean/ironed!

I started my morning pretty darn early on Thursday. We woke up around 6:30, I showered and did my own hair and makeup. My husband and I knocked out one photoshoot before I had to go to my first meeting with Bloglovin’ at 9:30AM. After that, I ran my butt to my second meeting with GiGi New York and had brunch at Two Hands NYC. If you’ve never been, their açai bowl is absolutely amazing and it has a “bloggish” atmosphere! Super cute and totally New York! My third meeting was shortly after with a PR agency based in New York. All my meetings were wrapped up by 1:15pm so I had time to stop by our hotel and quickly change before my first #NYFW show ever!

Noon by Noor was absolutely amazing! The room was a bit tight– full of press and media for sure. One thing I noticed from the runway show was that red is definitely in right now. There were so many great red and white dresses that caught my eye. The show lasted only about 10-15 minutes which as a newbie at NYFW, I was pretty surprised! I noticed that a lot of shows started about 15-20 minutes late and were over after 10-15 minutes. I had no idea!

After the show, I went straight to the Supima Design Competition Runway show BUT I was about 20 minutes late and they already shut the door!! I was totally bummed to miss out but I did end up staying for their after party which was a nice way to end the day!

[full_width]I met my husband up to do one more quick shoot before we grabbed dinner. We ended up at Chelsea Market and went to Los Tacos #1. It had great reviews but I honestly can’t enjoy Mexican food outside Texas. I need that sour cream and cheese and I don’t think that’s normal outside of the South, hah! We went back to the hotel and worked a bit more– I caught up on emails and edited a few photos!

Friday morning started out great since I didn’t have to do my hair at all!! I did my own makeup but went straight to FourteenJay (Aveda’s salon) and got some loose Hollywood glam curls! I met with John there and he was super quick– the whole thing maybe took 20 minutes! I LOVE the Aveda experience. If you guys haven’t been to Aveda you really should pop in their salon once to get their full hair experience! After my hair appointment, I went to the Galtiscopio runway show! I accidentally went to another location first but good thing I was early anyway so I told my Lyft driver to go somewhere else, hah! 😅 He was too sweet! The Galtiscopio show was pretty awesome you guys. Ray J came out of no where and started singing and I’m pretty sure his girlfriend was about 3 seats from me!! We got moved to the very first row so the entire experience was awesome–I felt like a total VIP!

After the show, I met up my husband and the rewardStyle retreat at Hotel Rivington! The view from the rooftop was absolutely incredible, y’all. RewardStyle picked an AMAZING spot for us to hang out! I spent about 30-45 minutes there before I ran off to my next meeting at the Bollare Styling Suite! I had THE BEST time there and I’m so glad I made it!! I got to pick out tons of goodies to take home and even got a customized denim jacket. That came in handy for sure because I was freezing my butt off all day long. They had a Kevin Acouin makeup station there so I had a little touch up done before I went for the evening. After Bollare, I stopped by BaubleBar to check out their fall collection. Needless to say, it’s incredible! I absolutely loved meeting the team, as well!

— One thing I did miss was the Relax & Rejuv event with Obviously. Super bummed out about that but I learned from next year to space out my events a bit more. Traffic in NYC is INSANE and if your GPS tells you you’ll be there in 15 minutes, it’s lying. It’ll take you 30. I learned that the hard way!

The last two events of the evening were the Style Collective Party and the Michael Costello presentation. This was my first presentation and it was pretty sweet! There were so many STUNNING gowns– I wish I could take them home with me! I got to the Style Collective party a bit late– around 9pm. It was outdoors (so again, I was freezing naturally) but I met a lot of great people at the event and it was nice to catch up! But foreal though, I’m definitely packing more cardigans and jackets for my next NYFW trip!

After what I thought was an insanely long day, I got back to the hotel around 11pm and stayed up to have a drink with a couple of my friends that were staying at the same hotel as me! I didn’t end up sleeping until about 2:30AM because Ajeet and I decided to watch Narcos which turned out to be a bad decision since I woke up Saturday with very little energy. BUT, we’ll save Saturday and Sunday for another blog post so stay tuned for that! 😘

You can shop all 3 of my outfits down below! I actually wore another black dress Friday night but didn’t get the chance to shoot it– I’ll link the products for you anyway! 🙂 Have a great Wednesday, loves! Chat soon! 💙
