Alright, want the truth? I got some new workout gear in and thought… I need to write myself a fitness post to inspire myself to get outside and put these babies to good use! And guess what, it worked!! I was told by my doctor that I need to increase my Vitamin D level but I’m not really interested in spending $$$/month to stay active, you feel me?! Rent in LA is already $$$$$$ enough and if you live here or an area where cost of living is insane, then I know you feel me. Writing this post has inspired me to go out, explore LA more, get fit and save money all at the same time so I hope it inspires you as well! A lot of what I’m writing is Los Angeles specific but some actually can apply to you just depending on where you live! You can shop my fitness gear down below under ‘shop the post’. Let me know if you have any more tips for me on how to stay active because I’m all ears!
Visit local trails/parks: With the exception of this past week where it’s strangely been cold and rainy in Los Angeles, the weather here is pretty darn great. If you’re not getting out and being active then you’re not doing LA right, so I’ve been told. There are so many great places probably pretty close to you where you can go for a stroll or a hike (Griffith Park, Runyon Canyon Park, Kenneth Hahn State
Free Yoga: Yes, that’s a thing here! For example, Runyon Canyon Park offers free yoga classes (donations are of course welcome!). You can find more info about dates/times here!
Utilize your apartment gym: This has been our go-to lately. I love simply having to walk downstairs to get to the gym– it’s easier to be motivated when all the resources you need to stay active is just a couple of feet away.
Rent a bike: It’s super affordable to rent a bike and go for a little ride to get your exercise in at practically any beach (Santa Monica and Venice would be the closest to me!). It’s a great way to get your vitamin D, spend some time outside and work out those legs!
Start Climbing: Sounds strange but if you live near Culver City, there’s a fun place called Culver City Stairs and it’s definitely a work out to get to the top but well worth it as you get the most incredible views of LA! I’d recommend going just in time to see the sunset! 🙂
