As most of you know, it was my fiancé’s birthday last weekend and so I decided to surprise him with a little getaway. We drove down to Austin and spent our Friday night enjoying our CUTEST little home that we found on HomeAway. Seriously you guys, it was literally a fairytale castle home and we stayed on the top floor with a terrace view of Lake Travis. It was absolutely stunning – you best believe we’ll be back! Our host even left us snacks, water bottles, and wine when we got there with a little personalized note!! We hung around in our little home away from home and enjoyed the sunset out on the terrace. Afterwards, we grabbed dinner at The Oasis and enjoyed the views there. The food was mediocre but the views were definitely unbeatable. It’s definitely great spot to get appetizers and drinks though!

We went into the craziness of Austin first thing Saturday morning and enjoyed a nice hike! I got bit by way too many mosquitoes but it was totally worth it! We had lunch at Jackalope Bar on 6th street which had FANTASTIC burgers! I already get enough tex-mex in life but if you are traveling to Austin, I’d definitely try out Matt’s El Rancho or of course, the infamous Trudy’s! If you have a sweet tooth and are looking for some DELISH dessert, Gourdough’s IS A MUST. I mean, even if you aren’t a sweet tooth I’d still say this place is worth a trip. Their donuts are too good to be true. Like, dang.

We then let out our inner creative energy and went to HOPE Outdoor Gallery! This is such a cool spot in Austin and I’d definitely recommend checking it out! It’s tucked away on a hill in downtown Austin and filled with amazing street art and graffiti. Grab some spray paint and join in on the fun amongst all the creativity around you! My fiancé and I definitely left our mark there 💙 P.S. This is a three-story outdoor gallery and it’s a bit steep so I’d definitely recommend wearing comfy clothes and some sneakers!

One thing I love about Austin is there are so many creative murals, graffiti and art all around you. One of my FAVORITES (as seen below) says “You’re my butter half” and I seriously am obsessed! Such an adorable mural I just can’t get over it and of course, I had to take a picture with it with my boo. There’s also the famous “I love you so much” mural that is super cute! Here’s a link that shows TONS of different cute photo spots if you’re ever in Austin with their addresses!

Lastly, to end our night and this blog post, my fiancé and I went out to Rainey Street! This is a great street to explore if you’re looking to go out and have a great time but don’t want to deal with all the crazies on 6th street! I loved the vibe there as well! The street was basically filled with historic homes in downtown Austin that consisted of bars, restaurants and clubs that I personally think were appropriate for us folks in the mid 20s or 30s! It’s such a fun area if you’re looking to go out in Austin!
